25 weeks

Weekly e-mail update: He's beginning to exchange his long, lean look for some baby fat. As he does, his wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and he'll start to look more and more like a newborn. He's also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture.
How far along?: 25 weeks
How big is baby?: Head to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. His weight — a pound and a half — isn't much more than an average rutabaga
Weight gain?: I was up 10 pounds last week but I haven't checked this week. I am assuming I would be up a pound or so after all the scrumptious food I ate for Easter.
Stretch marks?: Not yet. Lathering up the lotion.
Maternity clothes?: Still using the belly band with my normal clothes. Please summer, would you hurry up, I really want to wear my summer dresses.
Food cravings?: Any kind of salad will do- need to get my folic acid.
Sleep?: It has been hits or misses this week. The heartburn has started - save me now...
Gender?: We are having a SON!
Exercise?: Still working up a sweat by packing.
What's been going on?: I met with my ob/gyn this week and received great news - everything is on track and the ultrasound came back perfect. It was a great feeling to share with everyone this past week that we will in fact be welcoming a little boy into the family. The name hunt has begun and let me tell you, I really don't think it is going to be an easy one. So, if anyone has a good suggestion, then throw it our way! The next week looks to be a busy one with baby and settling into our new home. This month, I will have the dreaded gluscose test - I am so not looking forward to it. The little man has been kicking away; before too long, I believe his kicks will be strong enough to grab Little Miss L.'s attention. Here's to a fun filled week of unpacking :)

On a side note- Little Miss L. and I had to watch history in the making this morning. She absolutely loved the wedding ceremony, she kept asking to see it again!

today has finally arrived...

We have been waiting 3 long months for today...what am I talking about you might be wondering? It was 3 months ago when the hubby and I found our perfect home. Please everyone keep your fingers crossed everything goes as planned and I should be holding a set of shiny keys in the palm of my hand by the end of today. It has been a long road of house searching, packing, and anticipation but we will finally have our house! By the end of the day I should be doing the HAPPY DANCE on my new front porch!

easter weekend was full of surprises!

Easter weekend was a busy one, but we enjoyed every minute of it. It was a weekend jam-packed with friends and family; I love love love times like this - laughing so much my tummy hurts, sharing stories old and new, filling my belly with delicious food, and watching the faces of the young ones as they search for what the Easter bunny has left behind. I am one tired momma... and I think I might need a whole week to recover, but I would do it all over again in a heartbeat! Here's a peek at what went down around here, but be forewarned, there are a lot of pictures to share :)
Daddy and Little Miss L. started the weekend off making Easter cards.
My little artist hard at work.
Baked up a batch of Easter cookies - more on those later in the post!
The hubby joined in on the fun and made an Easter cookie for his little girl.
The finished product...cute little bunny.
My little bunny all ready for church.
Once home from church, it was time to dye our Easter eggs.
Little Miss L. loved watching the little white ovals turn into beautiful colours of the rainbow.
One big egg-dying party, was so glad Little Miss L. had the chance to share the experience with her cousins.
The final product.
Little Miss L. making her famous silly faces, but she was so proud of her coloured egg.
First stop was for lunch was at my in-laws. I love when all off the family is able to get together.
My cute nephew showing us his moves.
After lunch, we were off to my parents house for dinner. Once there, Little Miss L.'s Easter basket made it onto the table as a centerpiece.
Yummy, I love love love food!
See I wasn't kidding when I told you I filled my belly - who wouldn't when you have this spread placed in front of you?
Enjoying our Easter dinner with my parents and grandparents.
Look what the Easter bunny brought Little Miss L... a cool new ride.
She absolutely loves her new toy - her face says it all.
To round up the weekend, we had a nice visit with my grandma. Little Miss L. absolutely adores her great-grandma.
So you may have been wondering why my Easter cookies were so important. Well, this weekend we decided to share the sex of our baby with everyone. We were trying to figure out the best way to spread the news, then it hit me! What better way to let your family know then handing them a yummy treat. That's right folks, blue bunnies mean we will be welcoming a little boy into our family this summer!

I hope everyone had a fabulous Easter weekend!

24 weeks

Weekly e-mail update: His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.
How far along?: 24 weeks
How big is baby?:Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up.
Weight gain?: I have gained 10 pounds.
Stretch marks?: Not yet. Lathering up the lotion.
Maternity clothes?: Still using the belly band with my normal clothes. I love leggings and yoga pants!
Food cravings?: Anything cold.
Sleep?: Little Miss L. has been suffering from an allergic reaction for the past week...many sleepless nights!
Gender?: Coming very soon...
Exercise?: Still working up a sweat by packing.
What's been going on?: This week, the little one has been moving all over the place. Those little flickers are now kicks and daddy is now able to enjoy them as well. The little one co-operated and we were able to find out the sex of the new addition. We can't wait to share the news with everyone this weekend. I meet again with my ob/gyn next week and he will probably schedule my glucose test... not looking forward to that. Let's hope I pass the first test this time around and won't have to take the 3 hour test later on. Looking forward to filling my belly with good food this weekend. So, what do you think... is it team pink or blue?!?!?!

happy easter

Happy Easter Everyone! Easter is celebrated all over the world in different ways. This Easter we will be sharing it with our family and friends. I love love love a big Easter feast, when my belly is so full I feel like I am going to explode. No Easter would be the same without an Easter egg hunt, dying those little ovals into masterpieces, and of course making myself sick on that chocolaty goodness. What traditions are you celebrating this Easter?
Little Miss L. helped mommy decorate for Easter.

Not too happy to be in her bonnet.

All this decorating is making me tired.
Hooray, the Easter bunny is coming.

easter craft time!

Spring is here and Easter is almost upon us. What better time to get out the crayons for some Easter inspired crafts? Yesterday afternoon, Little Miss L. was tired and her attention span was very short, but I knew the perfect craft project we could work on together. All I needed was a print out of an Easter egg, glue, crayons, curling ribbon, and a handful of small pom poms. This project was easy to set up, clean up and was able to keep the interest of a high energy 18 month old. Little Miss L. was happy with the end result and now the hubby has some new artwork to hang at work.
Let the colouring begin.
The ladies hard at work.
Little Miss L. loved gluing on the pom poms.
Wow, look what I made everyone!
See daddy  you hang it up like this.

i like to move it...move it...

This past weekend was a busy one. We are finally able to count on our fingers how many days until we get our new home - the home where many unforgettable memories will be made. I look forward to the mornings I wake up and make a hot cup tea while I look out my back window as the dog runs free in the backyard. I look forward to family holidays as everyone gathers around the big dining room table to dig into a delicious feast. I look forward to watching my children create childhood memories they will cherish forever. The boxes are out, the clothes are being folded, piles are being made (keeping, donating, garbage etc.) and sore muscles are now a daily occurrence. Even though I know there is a lot of work ahead of us, the excitement of turning this house into our home surpasses all the aches and pains of being first time homeowners. I can't wait until I am able to share our home with all of you...I love love love decorating, so let the decorating begin!
The hubby working hard.
Doesn't he look real happy?!?!
Little Miss L. felt a little crazy after all that packing.

When we felt we were running out of steam, Little Miss L. and I would play this video to get our feet moving again :)

23 weeks

Weekly e-mail update:Blood vessels in her lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing her for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as your dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze her when she hears them outside the womb.
How far along?: 23 weeks
How big is baby?: She's more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango), you may be able to see her squirm underneath your clothes.
Weight gain?: I have gained 9 pounds.
Stretch marks?: Not yet. Lathering up the lotion.
Maternity clothes?: Still using the belly band with my normal clothes. I love leggings and yoga pants!
Food cravings?: I haven't really had any this week.
Sleep?: The hubby has been away for the week - I have had the whole bed to myself...enough said:)
Gender?: Coming soon...
Exercise?: The weather was nasty this week, which means I have not been walking as much as I wanted to. Still working up a sweat by packing.
What's been going on?: This week has been super busy, hence the MIA on the blog this week. The hubby has been out of town for the week on business. With the hubby gone, Little Miss L. and I packed up the car and headed down to visit my parents for a few days. Little Miss L. loves spending time with her grandparents... maybe it's because they love to spoil her. While in town, we were also able to have a few lunch dates to catch up with friends and even had a chance to have a play date with an old friend and her super-cute daughter. During the week, Little Miss L. experienced an allegric reaction (still not sure what caused it) so I have been dealing with a very cranky girl. Little Miss L. seems to be on the mend but she is still scratching herself like crazy. With everything that has been going on, I haven't had the time to really think about being pregnant this week...with that said, the little one still reminds me with a nice kick to the side every once and awhile!
23 week belly.
Look at that belly!
Look at the difference between my 23 week belly with my first pregnancy and this one...I look so tiny here.
