family day

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend and for those lucky ducks that had an extra long weekend, I hope you took full advantage of it. I had this whole weekend planned out, visiting with friends and family, hitting up Winterlude and getting a million things done around the house. Well, let's just say that none of the above happened for us. Both kids caught a bug at the beginning of last week and it was still going strong ALL weekend long! Our days consisted on holding crying children, wiping snotty noses and running cool baths... not how we pictured to spend our Family Day holiday, but we did spend it as a family. The kids are on the mend and I am hoping to rid this house of those rotten germs. It breaks my heart when our tiny angels are not well...
This picture sums up the last week around here.
Our little girl couldn't break her fever for days.
She spent most of her days cuddled in bed with all her stuffed animals.
There were a few moments when their energy came back...
Little Miss L. was so disappointed that she missed her Valentine's party at preschool. She still made sure to make her Valentine's when she had a burst of energy. Happy to report she delivered her cards to all her friends yesterday.
She made sure to colour on each and every one of them.
There was a lot of this that went on. As much as I do not like seeing my babies sick and hope this is the last for the winter season. I did however, enjoy our snuggles.

giddy. yep, i am down right giddy!

I have been sitting here thinking of the word that would describe how I feel and really the only word that I can think of right now is giddy. Giddy, might you ask? Well, as some of you may know, I love photography. Photography had become a hobby for me and then with the outpouring of support from friends, family and a lot of you, it has now become a little more than a hobby. In January, for the very first time, my work was published on the cover of a magazine! Not only did the magazine publish my work but it also featured my daughter. I have had a smile plastered across my face since it was published. I love walking by my coffee table and seeing my daughter smiling up at me. Seeing the magazine for the first time was a proud momma moment that I will never forget. Thank you to Backpack Magazine for allowing me this awesome opportunity. Please go pick up a copy and support this great read.

happy valentine's day

It's love day today! I hope you are taking a few moments to spread the love. All it takes is a smile or a hug! I am one lucky momma to be surrounded by so much love each and every day. I was looking forward to our Valentine festivities but I guess they will have to be put on hold, as I have one sick little girl who has been fighting off something nasty this week.

Remember to take this day to remind the people who bring joy and love into your life how much they mean to you. Happy Valentine's Day to each and every one of you!!

life as we know it

Baby D's hair explains how crazy things have been over here.
No, I have not been abducted by aliens and I promise I haven't fallen off the face of the earth. Life around here has been beyond crazy these days. I have so much to catch you guys up on and I promise I will do it next week. Life with a 3 year old and 18 month old is a busy one with no slowing down in sight. Once this mommy has time to refresh her tired self this weekend, this blog will be my first stop.

Happy Friday everyone!

school...say what!

Little Miss L.'s first day of prep school.
I need to freeze time just for a little while. Why, might you ask? Well, these last few weeks have been very busy. We are making some big decisions in our household, one being where we will be sending Little Miss L. to school this coming fall. We are fortunate we live in a location that allows us the choice of five different schools.

We have been to open houses, we have sat through presentations, and explored the grounds. Each school provides pros and cons. Like most parents, we want the best for our little girl and with that comes some hard choices. Questions like: How long will the bus ride be? Will she make friends easily? Do they provide a program I can see our little girl fitting into? Do they have extracurricular activities? Can she handle an all french school, or is french immersion a better alternative? If you ask Little Miss L. whats she likes, her answer is the one with the toys that grabbed her attention upon arrival.

For some reason, I am still having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact she will be attending school this fall. I know she is ready for the next chapter to begin but I think this process is harder for the parents.

Well, this week is registration so we need to come to a decision soon. I always love feedback, so please let me know how you decided what school would best suit your child.

In preparation for school, Little Miss L. is currently taking a prep course for school. For weeks, she said she would not go and even shed some tears. The first day broke my heart as she would not eat a single thing and as we drove down the road towards school she begged me not to take her there. I am happy to say that once she arrived and saw her cubby along with sea of smiling faces ready to play, she quickly left mommy's side. It has been over a week now and each day I arrive to pick up a smiling little girl who tells me how much she loves school. The rest of the evening is spent listening to all of the fun activities she participated in at school that day.

Please, I need to freeze time just a little... my baby girl is growing up too fast!

what i am digging at 17 months

Hey everyone!

Today, mom asked me to do a little guest post on things I am loving these days. Well, I just turned 17 months not to long ago and I must say I am loving life. My parents keep telling me I am a little firecracker. I must agree I have lots of energy and I love love love to climb. There are so many things I like to do in a day but I cut this list down to a few of my favourite activities that keep me occupied for more than a minute:

1. Building Blocks - I love building forts with my blocks and knocking them down the minute I'm finished.

2. Jump-o-lene - I love my Uncle Brady! Yep, for Christmas, he got us this awesome Jump-o-lene. I love to bounce around in it for hours. My mom even gets in from time-to-time for some good ol' fun.
3. Dinosaurs - I love anything that has to do with those awesome creatures. One of my favourite things to do in the afternoon is to pull out my felt board of Dino-land and let my imagination run wild.
4. Cupboards and doors - I absolutely love opening cupboards, doors, pantries, and garbage cans. I love the element of surprise. I never know what I might find. For some reason, mom always seems to have an annoyed look on her face when she comes around the corner and I have reorganized.

5. Trucks and tractors - I love me some big machines! Yellow trucks and tractors seem to be my favourite these days. I love going for a car ride and pointing out the ones I see on the road. I was lucky because on my birthday I received this cool ride. I love to zip around the house on this bad boy.
6. Books - I wasn't the biggest fan of books at first. No way would I sit more than 30 seconds to look at a book. I guess I am maturing as I find them more interesting these days. I love finding a good one to read to my parents or even my great-grandma.
7. Playground - Okay, I will admit it- I am not one who enjoys the cold weather outdoors. My parents must have got the hint as one morning I woke up to this awesome contraption. I loved it the minute I laid eyes on it. I spend a lot of time climbing and sliding without freezing.

Hoping everyone is enjoying their Friday thus far! Our house is a little crazy today but loving every minute of it. There has been a lot of singing, dancing, and even a Cheerio balancing competition. Happy Friday!
